Injury Prevention and Safety

Lesson Objective: The learner will be able to demonstrate proper use of technology by identifying various types of unintentional injuries and prevention tips in the webquest activity.

What is a webquest?
A webquest is an inquiry-oriented lesson format to aid in student learning.
This webquest has been designed to help you learn about the various types of unintentional injuries, as well as how to prevent them and remain healthy students.

Answer all questions on word document and then share document on google drive to sarahelizabeth94@sbcglobal.net. Make sure to cite all sources. 

1.  What is the leading cause of injury and death in the home? What steps can be taken to reduce this risk?


2. What are the three causes of most house fires? What should all homes be equipped with in order to prevent serious injury or death from a house fire?

3. Define poisoning. What types of household items can cause this? (List 4 of them). 

4. What is the difference between suffocation and choking?

5. List the 3 common unintentional injuries that occur in the community. List 3 ways each of those injuries can be prevented. 

6. Choose one of the links on the CDC website. Research this link and any links that may be attached to the page. List 2 facts, and 2 prevention methods for the link you chose, then explain why you decided to research that link. 

7. Using the HRSA website, list 2 facts that relate to the injury prevention link. What is your opinion on these facts, and the Title V programs being put in place?

8. Using the WHO website, choose one publication under the "Other injury topics," and summarize it. What are your thoughts and opinions on the publication you read? Explain.
